If a hacker's gonna hack, they'll hack everything, not just the health orbs. Anyway, amount of health healed is shown on everyone's screen anyway :p

I'm use to hunting for hackers and while the ones that you may be use to will hack everything there are some that are careful and plan their stuff only giving them a big enough advantage but not enough to cause suspicion. You are correct that the amount healed would be shown but I believe hackers can still make it where the health orb stays on the floor for ever despite being picked up. But you are correct that the majority of hackers would probably just hack everything.

We have been talking about adding an option to show other people's health, and it's something we'd like to do if we find a clean enough solution. We'll keep experimenting with it, hopefully it will be available at some point!
Would using a tiny HP bar similar to the Frosty Friend's work? aside from displaying EP or status effects it would be the simplest as far as I can gather.

That sounds awesome, or maybe something in the corner of the screen like in mmos. :D

Maybe there could be an ! popping up above the head of players when a health orb drop and depending on the color you could see who has the lowest HP? That way people would not accidently steal it from someone that needs it and everyone would see who needs it the most. :p

Yeah, it's most likely something like that we'll be going for :)

Health orbs could be put in the same family as arrows and become unattainable if your HP is full. That way you may get some floating red orbs all over the place, but your friends don't get gimped and die a room later or something.

Can you add a Co-op for like 16 players, and add a competition type version where you race to finish a story?

It's rather unlikely, as it's not the kind of game we're trying to make! Sounds like it would be a cool idea for another game though :)

Here are some things to think about in order to get a smooth co-op experience:

Steam!
The game now supports the usage of your Steam friends list which means you can skip the steps on how to do Port Forwarding and how to use Hamachi! However, I'll keep them here in case you run into problems and want to try the old fashioned way. SO, if your game tells you to enter an IP Adress you need to go back into the main menu and change the network settings from IP to STEAM in the Options menu. After this is done the game should now go straight into the lobby and in there you can go to Invite to bring up your friends list inside the game. You could also open up the Steam In-game overlay to invite your friends or join a friend that has a lobby set up already.

Port Forwarding & Hamachi
If behind a router, the person hosting your game needs to have Port 6000 open, otherwise it will be impossible to connect. For a guide on how to open ports, check this thread.

As an option to port forwarding, there's Hamachi. Hamachi is a free software that allows you to bypass port forwarding if everyone connects to the same group in the program. We set up a guide for using Hamachi in this thread as well.

Avoiding Lag
If your internet is slow or you're downloading something, it might cause lag. It's probably wise to let the person with the best internet host your game if possible. Also, the further away you live from one another, the more base ping you'll get. This means playing with someone on the other side of the world (or even a few countries away) might be kind of laggy, depending on your connection.

Finding people to play with
If you couldn't convince your friends to join in on the fun, or you wanna make some new ones, you could always make a post on this forum asking if anyone's interested in playing! I recommend that you play with people on the same continent if possible. Let people know in the title of your thread what country or continent you're from or what language you're using to make things easier!

What happens to my Co-Op character when I return to Single Player?
If you were the host, nothing happens at all. Your quest stats and all your items are saved and you can just continue the game as usual.

If you were a client, your items and character progress will be saved, but you will (currently) have to redo any quests you finished in the co-op session. In the future we'll add a system which makes it possible to skip quests you finished in co-op!

Enemy Scaling
Aside from getting stronger in general, some enemies also get new attacks when in co-op. Many of these attacks are crowd-control based, meaning they might root someone to disable them from attacking! Sometimes you may be able to help your friend by hitting the enemy or their prison. Try it out!

It will, in the arena! We probably won't spend a lot of time balancing it, though, it will just be for fun (so if one build happens to pwn the others, that's prolly how it's gonna be) :)

Basically, the 2-Handed smash will wreck any other class because it does over 1000 damage?

Just wondering, does the Vilya in the game resemble you?

Haha, not really - it's just the name we share :)

...Though I do yell at the IRL-versions of Teddy and Fred every once in a while when they're being silly, so maybe we share a bit of personality too! ;)

Hm, a thought accured to me last night watching my Fiancee play Stardew Valley, what about a food crafting system to help with heath regein? :)

It feels like they'd become the next necessity to farm up before boss fights, and I don't think that's the route the Devs are going down :(

Hello,

I bought the game today and played multiplayer with my friend. We got 37% completion, but when I go to single player all my quest progression is lost. Is there a way to fix this? Have you guys found any fix for this? Is there a way my friend could send me the save file just like it works in Borderlands 2?

Thanks,

Teddy

We'll likely upload a patch to Stable today or tomorrow that includes a way to skip quests you've already completed in multiplayer!

If you don't want to wait, or get everything set up correctly in one go, your friend can go into the %APPDATA%/Secrets of Grindea/Worlds folder, send the .wld file to you, and then you can replace your own with that.

You must do this with the game running in the main menu, though, or disable Steam Cloud! Otherwise Steam Cloud might bring back your other save on startup.
