Pet leveling, confirmed infinite?

Checking the wikia, it states that the devs originally stated 10 levels, but that the cap was removed and now gain infinitely. Has a dev confirmed if this is intentional or not? Would sure hate to waste levels on non-primary stats if there's going to be a limit to how many they can get.

So currently the pets don't have a level limit but there are plans to make them more balanced by setting a level cap on them. The original plan is to set it to 10 with all stats combined and "force" the player to have different pets with different stats if they feel the need to have more than one pet. Otherwise the different pet variations are just for cosmetics.

There's nothing wrong with that, and would in fact be the objectively better choice. If they're adamant about this design path, they need to allow us to respec our pets, obtain new ones, and/or have multiple copies of the same type. As far as I'm aware, none of these are possible currently.
