Cancel shield by spell

I have noticed that it is not possible to cancel the shield using a spell. Even after the shield was released you need to wait for about half a second until it's possible to charge a spell (this is different when perfect blocking).
I'd like to block an attack and start casing a spell right after without losing so much time.

If you do a Perfect Block you charge the spell faster but I'm not too sure about if you can charge it right away or if you still have to wait a little for the charging to start while the character puts the shield away.

Yeah when you perfect guard it starts casing right away. And I just noticed that it is possible to cancel the shield by a spell. But if you release the shield and then try to cast a spell, it won't happen. You have to wait a little before that's possible.
