This is the second time it's happened now, both in exactly the same type of situation.
I go into the Season Temple in Arcade. I hold down my skill button to begin charging it. I hear a 'Dink' - the sound of the gates popping into place before the Loading screen is gone. And then nothing.
I suspect the issue may be due to charging a skill plus the gates spawning while the Loading screen is still there.
This has ruined two chances for me setting a decent score / getting a fairy pet now.
Ffff. At least now I know what to avoid doing in Arcade.
