Multiplayer Option: Host Level Sync? Other options?

This probably isn't a huge priority before the game is open to a wider release, but it's a little bit of a downer when you join a buddy's game and you're super leveled above them. You absolutely crush and make the game a joke for them. The alternative is to make a new character at level 1 who - while they will probably level incredibly quickly - is probably going to be dead weight for a while. Plus you've only got three character slots so if you have all of those in use you have to delete one and... yeah.

Anyhow, this is something to consider:

'Host Level Sync'. If this is enabled in multiplayer, anyone who joins has their level temporarily reduced to match the host's. Those who join below the host's level aren't impacted at all, since they'll naturally level quickly from larger enemies. However, since actually leveling down a character is impractical since it would probably screw with their build a ton, here's what I suggest:

Say the host is level 10 and you're level 20.

Because you joined the game, your main character stats are ignored and you play a diminished clone of them. You join at level 10 with level 10 stats.

Say you had completely maxed out Fireball and Chain Lightning. For every level the host has up to 5, it unlocks the first five ranks of any skill you might have gotten 5 ranks in. So if the host was level 3 you would have a 3-point Fireball and Chain Lightning.

Gold points are added into skills you might own up to that high at, say, levels 7 (+2), 10 (+3), 14 (+4), 19 (+5) and 25 (+6). Since the host is level 10 you would have Fireball and Chain Lightning at 2 Gold Points, with all the remaining points blacked out until the host continues to level.

Talents could work similarly, adding up to the number you actually have in each talent at levels 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20?

As soon as the host reaches your actual level the limited character is gone and you're restored to your actual build, and can continue to gain EXP and level.

Other multiplayer option requests:

Gold Split: In my other topic I mentioned needing some way to ensure melee fighters didn't just vacuum up every piece of equipment that dropped via some confirmation button to pick it up. A 'Gold Split' option would help to equally divide all gold earned between all players, 'cause mages aren't getting a penny from the back row. :p

Host Leader: The host determines when the party advances, even if everyone isn't at the transition point. Everyone is given a (5-10?) second warning to join the host before they're automatically transitioned with the host. Good for progressing screens if a buddy is AFK for a bit and didn't disconnect? Is there even a way to kick someone from a game if they have gone AFK long periods of time?
