Slime Breeding

At some point in the game, one of the NPCs in the labs will have a quest marker for you. They want you to rent out the barn near Oak's to perform slime experiments in - to see if monsters are naturally occuring, or if new ones can be created.

Enter slime breeding. You capture green slimes in traps laid on the ground, rather than taming them, and unload them into pens in the barn. From there you can feed them various types of loot around the game to see how they react to it, causing them to change over time into new, weird species of slime. Example:

Flower petals and roots: Slimeflower. Slime wreathed in flower petals. Rooted in place.
Jumpkin meat: Slimekin. Orange slime with a jack-o-lantern face on it that bounces around.
Ectoplasm and sheets: Spiritslime. White slime that silently moves around, disappearing and reappearing.
Boar drops: Furslime. Fuzzy brown slime that charges around it's enclosure at fast speed.
Metal parts: Roboslime. Metallic slime that heavily clanks around.
All things crystal: Shineslime. A slime made out of crystal, or with crystals growing out of it.

Over time slimes in your barn will drop goop of their respective nature which you can collect. These goops can coat certain equipment to empower it, but only in the endgame. So like The Stinger -> Empowered Stinger. Mainly as a way to boost up equipment with unique effects, make them still viable in the final dungeon. Things like the Flower Wand, Sword of Echoes or Icicle, or many shields.

Or maybe something like this isn't necessary at all. But it would be nice to see a bunch of strange, different types of slimes. :D
