Summon Cloud is completely adorable and has unintentionally great timing in cutscenes, and early on in the game it handles trash mobs fairly well.
But in the later game the damage and rate of its attacks begins to fall off. Enemies get far beefier, it's stuck perpetually chasing after bosses that run or teleport around. Relatively low damage combined with brief windows it can do damage means the points invested into it usually aren't worth it beyond aesthetic value. Five silver points aren't worth too much, but once you start pooling in the gold points the downsides really start becoming apparent. 5 gold points for something that rarely does damage, and low damage at that, seems far less appealing compared to ever other max skill.
If there's ever a skill tinkering update in the future, I do think it could use a few commands like Frosty to counterbalance the downsides. Make it feel more engaging of a skill, Pokemon master-y.
Basic Command - Untether. Removes the attachment to the player for a time, leaving the Cloud to rapidly chase after enemies dealing steady damage wherever they may be. Pulls back when Untether runs out.
Silver Command - Link. Similar to the Green Crystals of Flying Fortress, creates an electrical link between the player and the Cloud, dealing continuous damage to any enemies that touch it.
Gold Command - Static Discharge. Are you a pure non-plant summoner or shadowclone summoner with no need for EP? Now your energy has purpose! All current energy is wiped to 0, used to pump up a static discharge that fires a burst of lightning in every direction. The more available EP you have, the more bonus power is added to the discharge.
