…Yeah, you read that right! After 13 years of development, we’re finally we’re able to give you a release date, and one which isn’t even too far off at that. Without further ado, Secrets of Grindea will be released on….

February 29th 2024

That is, in exactly one week from now. To celebrate this grand occassion, have a look at our brand new release trailer:

Again, while the game will enter 1.0 and be officially released on the 29th, we’ll continue adding some further improvements in post-release updates. However, our hopes are that most of these will be quality of life and visual upgrades that won’t affect the overall experience too much.

Also a reminder that the Snowbacca Tiers will close on Monday the 26th in preparation for the release. This is the last chance to get your hands on those special rewards before they close :)

P.S. For those of you who only play the ‘Stable’ version of the Early Access Beta – as of today the game is now fully playable from start to finish! Go check it out!

I randomly found this game when I was child and have somehow been following the game and its development for all 13 years, (from elementary school to finishing college lol). Never left a comment before but just wanted to say congratulations and thank you for all the hard work you guys have done.

I remember first encountering this game on Steam Greenlight. Back then, it was a sign of quality that a game got onto Steam Greenlight, so I was looking at what games had been voted in so I knew what to keep an eye on for the future.

I saw Secrets of Grindea, and instantly recognized the Secret of Mana inspiration. It looked good, so I kept my eye on the project. I never would have guessed it would take 13 years to be finished.

It’s been an enjoyable journey reading these blog posts each and every week. Congratulations on the release.

I’m glad I found this game only a year ago because everyone else waited a decade or more. I’ve played the demo and wasn’t too impressed, but to be fair it’s just a demo, but the movements and combat are very fluid and reminded me of Rogue Heroes which is one of my favorite games. Very happy to finally learn that 1.0 is being released while I got my steam deck. I thought Snowbacca tier was $5.00 and I thought maybe I should! But then i noticed it’s actually $50.00! The nerve! Congrats guys on the release and hope it’s not too late to gain back the traction that you once had, a decade ago. Looking forward to purchasing, but I will wait until actual release just in case it’s delayed again.

My Cousin & I discovered this game in Fall of 2016, and at that age we had more free-time than sense so we played this game every day. He and I would voice every line of dialogue, and we soaked in an absolutely amazing experience. After we hit the content wall we came back for larger updates when they released up until 2018 when my house burnt and my family had to move to another state. Life got busy, we still kept in touch but not as much. Both of us went through quite a rough patch during COVID, and there was a lot of unhappiness brewing in both of our lives. Now we are on the other side. We are much different and more loved, both by ourselves and by others, than ever before! My cousin found herself much happier as a woman, she transitioned, separated herself from discouraging family members, and is living her best life. I’ve finally found a network of friends and a partner that are joyful and enriching in this new part of the country, and I couldn’t be happier.

With this full release, Her and I are going to run it back just like the old days. We’re busier, most definitely, but we will find the time to bond over a game like we used to. I am extraordinarily excited for this release, congrats on this monumental journey.

So proud that your team stands as a shining example in stark contrast to all the “AAA” nonsense and disappointment, the false promises and scams, the unimaginative and unfinished games, and rampant over monetization that we are all just supposed to accept as par for the course these days. Your team had a vision and executed month after month year after year. Well done all around.

I can’t believe I’ve been following this for 9 years. I don’t think I’ve played it for about 3-4, actually, while waiting for updates.

That raises a question, though: What are the plans/current workarounds for local multiplayer? I played it with my wife way back when a 2-instance workaround was created so we could both play locally.

Will there be a version that requires just one instance?
Will the up-to-date version on steam work in the same way as the past?

Started playing this when a friend bought it for me in 2017, it really got me through an incredibly tough time in my life. In a much happier place now, married with my own house and a cat, absolutely thrilled to be able to start this again and play all the way through!! Congratulations on the release!

I still remember getting shown this game by a friend back in 2015, it’s insane to think about how far it’s come! I’m super excited to bring it to all of my friends, I’ve got so many of them roped into playing the story with me once release hits lol
