I had a maxed plant placed on the middle(where Luke hits the ground before second phase), while chatting plant didn't stop, I watched it attacking for a while and it really affected the second fight.
If I waited for a longer time, he would be dead without any fight.
(I know Luke starts with lower hp for second fight, plant lowered it even more)
