This happens in other areas as well, I first encountered this visual oddity at the clearing just north of Santa. Haven't been able to confirm that the Yeti does this too, but my suspicion is that it would. Elite Green Slimes do this as well, though the effect isn't nearly as drastic. 
Everything still behaves normally. Using Frontline beta. EDIT: Just noticed that the Snowflake Charm (when activated) produces the same visual phenomenon, it's not nearly as noticeable however since the opacity is so low.
