So if you pick up an item and talk to someone it will auto-equip what you picked up. I don't know if this happens with other items but for accessories I've seen it happen a few times. I picked up a swift ring and ignored it and talked to the bishop that appeared after I cleared the room in arcade. I heard the equipping noise and noticed i had equipped the swift ring.
