Doing some Arcade runs and on F03, after beating the boss (the Ferrets) I returned to use what little money I had left on the Health Nurse.
To my surprise, he/she allowed me to spend more money than I actually had! Only 7 gold, though. The prize for my final purchase was 219 and I had 212g, so I ended up at -7g.
Upon continuing the run, money accumulated normally again.
Fwiw I had two perks active, and they were both HP-increasing. +25HP and +5% ones.
