Jump Ledges

So I have played through the games a couple of times and it wasn't untill my third playtrough that I realized about the jump ledges on the GUN-D4Ms shoulders. In my first two playthroughs I just tanked the damage and barely made it.

So I tried to figure out why I didn't get this when I first played the game, because there is a couple spots just in the flying fortress.

What proabably wet through my mind back then was: "Hey cool I can jup down from certain spots BUT even cooler. I can become an energy orb and fly through the air."
And since I used my phase ability to get up on his shoulders it only seemed logical to use the same ability to get down, after all he got some kind of phasing platforms on his shoulders.

Yeah, this is actually quite a big problem we've found! A lot of people just take the damage and think of it as a HP timer of sorts.

We're planning to make all jump ledges more apparent by showing interface arrows when you get close (in the case of GUN-D4M, this means whenever you're on his shoulders).

Great news! Even though it felt really cool when I re-discovered this ability to jump ledges it might just frustrate others to where the game becomes not fun.

I definitely tanked the damage against him. I kept thinking "there must be a way to escape him, but I'm afraid to waste too much time trying or he'll kill me!" Maybe force us to jump down from a ledge somewhere in the temple that gives us more time to think things through?

I saw your post on the chest, which is perfect, making players want something on the other side; but since this ability seems so key, I think you have to put more in players' face.

A few patches ago (maybe a month or something), we changed the Flying Temple layout so that you can no longer phase shift back from the "monitor room" (right before you get one of the keys in the left temple hub).

This makes it so that you are forced to jump down after getting the key, but even with that little tutorial it's still common to miss you can jump down from GUN-D4M apparently :(

Really? I don't recall ever being forced to jump down. I'll replay it this weekend and see if I somehow managed to circumvent that tutorial and I'll let you know. I learned the phase shifting no question.. That was very in my face, but I don't remember any jumping.

HAH! I bet I turned around. Does the door lock shut behind you?

I must have just REFUSED to accept that tutorial. There's no way I jumped down and just forgot I did that. Is there?

The only way to progress is by jumping down the ledge, you can't phaseshift back the way you came from.
I think the only way you could have missed it is if you grabbed the key and then restarted the game, which would place you at the entrance of the dungeon. Seems highly unlikely though ;D (or does it...!?)

I know this is a really old thread, I don't know if it is a bug or what but it is nearly impossible to jump down from Gun's shoulders on the gamepad. I have done it maybe twice out of 60+ attempts, this basically means I have to take all 3 hits to my hp which sort of sucks. :'(
