Try changing over to Translation beta. I had a similar issue on Frontline. You may want to make a backup of your char files, but based on what i've seen so far Translation and Frontline are close to the same.
After taking the precautions you feel necessary, right click on SoG in Steam Library, select Properties. Left click Betas tab, click on drop down menu, and choose translationbeta. Steam will download the ~2.1MB file to change the version of SoG.
